London Trip (2016 Christmas)
Hey guys so I recently visited London (OMG I know!) I went on the 23rd December 2016 just two days before Christmas! I went along with my mum, purely just to visit and experience 'London' with her, plus to finish up a few loose ends on Christmas shopping.
Travel?
So first off we drove down to my local train station (Flint) and headed down to London Euston via Virgin Trains. I had booked for first class seats on the way down (and normal coming home) honestly I must admit how disappointed I was with the service. When we got on the train we instantly got our tickets checked and was given a juice drink (orange or apple) and a hot drink (tea or coffee). I must admit the seats where very comfy, thick leather and spaced out so you could really relax!
We got FREE WiFi on the 'first class' section (normally you pay £5+ in the normal section of the train for WiFi services) and we got offered for food from a selection of; a small cooked breakfast, a bacon roll (which we couldn't have because they had no rolls), fruit or porridge.
At first I was going to go for fruit, but my mum picked the cooked breakfast so of course I followed. I'm not sure what I was expected, but honestly it's just like airplane food I didn't really eat any of it. After about a 2 N half hour journey we arrived. We then headed for the tubes - we first went to Knights-bridge then Oxford Circus.
Knights-Bridge
WOW! This area is complete rich mans world, as soon as you step foot out the station you have a Rolex store across the road AND a Mclaren store! We headed down, dreaming at all the shops were we stopped off in a few (Ted Baker, Zara) and then of course Harrods! (full blog post on harrods coming soon)
Oxford Circus
I felt like this was more 'normal' to me in terms of shops, there was LOTS and I mean LOTS the street is huge! From h&m, new look, river island, forever 21 to self-fridges! We pretty much spent the rest of our day up and down this street shopping, stopping off at a SubWay for food and then a Starbucks later on for coffee. One thing I will note is London is terrible to find somewhere to sit down and eat, or generally for a bench outside! There is NO seating whats-so-ever.
Carnaby Street
This street is just off Oxford Street, it's a small little area with a few more shops mainly Urban Decay! This store was so pretty in terms of decoration, although it was only small it was perfect (plus it wasn't packed!!) but most things were 'sold out'.
Christmas Lights
All over the streets there was different decorations, from simple lights to beautiful shaped animals. Some of the stores went all out too and decorated the entire buildings (some over five floors high) with lights and sparkle! It was so pretty to see during the evening just as it was getting dark.
So overall I am very glad we did this trip, I will admit next time we defiantly need a hotel to stay over and get to do some sight seeing. The shopping did get very tiring towards the end of the day, purely from walking around all day and holding all the bags! Plus not having many seating areas around made it a bit worse. But I will be sure to do it again sometime in 2017!X
